Anas b. Malik reported that when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) decided to write letters to the Byzantine (Emperor) they (his Companions) told him that they would not read a letter unless it is sealed. (Then) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had a silver ring made (for himself), (its shape is so vivid in my mind) as if I see its brightness in the band of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and its engravement was (Muhammad, Messenger of Allah). - Muslim

In the Prophet's (SAW) time, signet rings were used to seal letters and documents, indicating authenticity and authority.

 

Material and Inscription:

The Prophet's (SAW) ring was made of silver and bore the inscription "Muhammad, Rasul, Allah". The order of the words was significant, ensuring that "Muhammed's" name did not appear above "Allah's".

 

Wearing the Ring:

He (SAW) wore the ring on his little finger, sometimes on his right hand and sometimes on his left, rotating it inward when not being used as a seal.

 

Symbolic Significance:

The ring was not just a practical tool but also held symbolic importance, signifying the Prophet's role as Allah's (SWT) messenger (SAW) and the authority he embodied
